Halotestin (Fluoxymesterone) is a tableted androgen, which exerts an intense anabolic effect. As for its structure, fluoxymesterone is a derivative of testosterone. It has a difference in structure from the original androgen as it contains some additional groups: 17-alpha-methyl, 11-beta-hydroxy and 9-fluorene group. That is why, this oral steroid has significant androgenic activity, its chemical formula is 9a-fluorene-11b,17b-dihydroxy-17a-methyl-4-androstene 3-on.
Halotestin is a testosterone derivative, so it has some similar qualities. Much more important is that fluoxymesterone is a good basis for 5-alpha reductase enzymes. This fact is confirmed by a large number of disintegration products of the drug.
They are androgens but without 5-alpha group in the structure of their molecules and they are also associated with its outer androgenic nature. This explains the fact that fluoxymesterone turns in more powerful steroid in the body tissues which are sensitive to the action of androgens, to be more precise, in the skin of the head and the whole body, including the prostate. 11-beta hydroxyl group in the molecular structure of fluoxymesterone affects slowing of the aromatization process and it becomes a reason why the production of estrogen becomes impossible.
